Radio WG is no ordinary radio show, it’s a flat share that just happens to have a broadcasting studio. Every Monday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., Jürgen, Mike T. and Mayor Matthias get together for two hours to do exactly what has always made good flat shares so great: talking, laughing, discussing – and playing great music to each other.
The three couldn’t be more different, and that’s exactly why the flat share works so well. Each brings his own style, his own story and his own record collection. And somewhere between vinyl, playlists, coffee and slight chaos, a show emerges that sounds cosy, surprising and wonderfully human at the same time.
And then there’s Patrick. According to flatmate lore, he ‘lives’ in the basement – at least that’s the running gag that persists. The fact is: when Patrick emerges from the basement, he reliably brings with him the great classics, the unexpected hits and the songs that make everyone say, ‘That’s right, that was brilliant!’
Musically, Radio WG is a foray into almost everything that’s fun: from 60s and 70s cult classics to indie and alternative to modern pop gems, soundtrack treasures and occasional detours into the harder or weirder corners. The rule here is: if it’s good, it can be played. And if there are discussions about whether a track is cult or noise, that’s just part of everyday life in the flat share.
But what makes Radio WG special is not just the music, it’s the feeling of being there. The atmosphere is warmly chaotic, spontaneous, often funny and always completely authentic.
Listeners feel as if they are sitting with the three of them at the flat share kitchen table while the songs play and the stories unfold.
