Thursday, 14 May 2026. Ascension Day. In Germany, this also happens to be Vatertag – Father’s Day, but not the cosy kind with breakfast in bed and a hand-drawn card. The German version involves groups of men towing handcarts (Bollerwagen) loaded with beer and bratwurst across the countryside, technically on a hike, practically on a bender. While they’re out there pulling carts, MashMike is pulling a marathon in the studio.
Eleven hours straight. 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The day kicks off as usual with Matuschke and his “Senile Bettflucht” from 6 to 9 a.m. Anyone already pushing a Bollerwagen down a forest path before sunrise will be glad someone else is at the mic.
At nine, MashMike takes over – time for “Kulturgut INSTRUMENTAL – Music Without Words.” Six hours of theme tunes, film scores, signature melodies. Everything you’ve been sending him since January, finally on air. Convenient side effect: instrumentals are the only music form still bearable after a third pint.
At three p.m., MashMike slides seamlessly into “Come 2gether” – an aptly chosen title, since by then the returning Bollerwagen crews are slowly finding their way back to each other and to whatever home they can identify.
It’s not until 8 p.m. that he hands the mic over. Peter “PA” Antony takes the slot with Q-Burn, followed by Wolfman Jack and the Classic Rock Show.
No Non-Stop blocks anywhere. Moderated from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Ascension Day is a public holiday with mandatory attendance at Feelgood – studio attendance, that is.
Vatertag. Ascension Day. Männertag. Herrenpartie. Four names. One day. One blood-alcohol level.
Feelgood FM is doing the only sensible thing: keeping the programme running. So you’ve got something that still works when the Bollerwagen blows a wheel.
