30 YEARS OF KUNSTPARK OST

Munich’s Biggest Party Zone comes back to life!

It was loud. It was wild. It was chaotic. And for a few years it was probably the most exciting place in Munich.

In 1996, Kunstpark Ost opened its gates on the former Pfanni site by the Ostbahnhof and changed Munich’s nightlife for good. Clubs, bars, concert halls, artists, DJs, freaks, night owls and no end of stories you’d hardly believe today.

30 years later, we bring the ORIGINAL KUNSTPARK OST back to life.

It all started on Friday, 13 September 1996.

And we don’t do second-hand stories.

Joining us are KPO co-founders Gaby and Matthias Scheffel, who explain in a long interview how a crazy idea grew into one of the biggest party zones in Europe.

With them: plenty of other witnesses, makers and people who were right in the thick of it rather than just around, bringing memories, stories and anecdotes from a time when Munich ticked a little differently after dark.

Which clubs were truly legendary?
What happened behind the scenes?
How much of it was planned, and how much was glorious chaos?
And why do so many Munich locals still remember Kunstpark Ost today?

Your hosts for the afternoon are Dr. Feelgood and his two co-hosts Götz Scheffel and Alexander Rüger aka DJ LXR, both deeply rooted in the Munich club and party scene of those years.

And of course there’s the matching sound of an era in which names like KW, Ultraschall, Natraj Temple, Babylon, K41, Milchbar or Nachtkantine instantly bring the pictures back for a whole generation.
