Saturdays at 12:00 CEST, Q-Burn airs here with Peter “PA” Antony. On Saturday 17 October he takes the show onto a stage for the last time this year. New venue: The Bell Inn on Thames Street in Hampton, upstairs.
Headlining are Kimberley Rew and Lee Cave-Berry. Rew played in Robyn Hitchcock’s Soft Boys from 1978, then co-founded Katrina and the Waves and wrote “Walking on Sunshine” for them in 1985. He also wrote “Love Shine a Light”, which won the Eurovision Song Contest for the UK in 1997. The Bangles covered his “Going Down to Liverpool”, and Céline Dion recorded “That’s Just the Woman in Me”.
His wife Lee Cave-Berry plays bass and spent years in the Cambridge scene. With the Mal Gray band she toured Europe supporting Fats Domino. The band were then booked to back Bill Haley and were already rehearsing when news of his death came through. For some twenty years the two have performed as Kim & Lee.
Special guests: The Lawyer and the Draper, by now regulars of the series.
“Walking on Sunshine” is roughly the definition of a Q-Burn: a record played so often the groove wore out. Its writer turning up at Q-Burn Live fits better than anyone could have planned.
